Following assessment of the patients specific movement patterns, balance and strength, a treatment plan is designed to focus on maintaining and improving the quality of these impaired movements.
Our Bobath trained Neuro physiotherapists have an indepth knowledge of these movements and their relevance in the complexity of function and balance. This knowledge is used in their handling skills to re educate and maintain day to day functional tasks of our patients.
Their expert handling give’s the patient ‘the feel and experience’ of moving normally. The aim is that through this experience of movement the patient ‘learns’. This is possible as the patient tunes into the specific movements. With time and repetition the brain and central nervous system has the ability to adapt and the patient gains improved quality of movement and therefore function.
In simple terms the patient’s day to day tasks such as standing up, transferring, balancing, walking, use of the arm or leg, may be affected by some neurological pathology/incident.
Your Neurological Physiotherapist will analyse the movement patterns which have been affected by this and aim to help re-educate, through their specialist handling, the componants which need to change to improve these day to day movements.
Here at Burscough Physiotherapy we're always on the look out for talented, passionate physiotherapists and staff to join our happy team.
