Leading independent provider of neurological physiotherapy & rehabilitation.
We provide a comprehensive neurological physiotherapy service.
Our neurological physiotherapy team treat a wide range of conditions.
Anita qualified from Bradford School of Physiotherapy in 1982 and started her clinical career as a junior physiotherapist at Bradford Royal Infirmary. In a short space of time, she discovered her passion for neurological physiotherapy and played a vital role in developing the NHS stroke rehabilitation services at Bradford.
She then gained a senior post within the NHS at Leeds, working alongside a Bobath tutor in the neuroscience department. During this time, she was a founder of the Yorkshire Neuro special interest group (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists interested in Neurology – ACPIN), responsible for organising and running lectures and courses in the Yorkshire area.
In 1990 when Anita had the first of her two daughters, she stopped working full-time in the NHS and began treating patients privately. Patients were seen at her home in Burscough under the close supervision of her newborn daughter (who fortunately always managed to sleep throughout!). This became the start of what is now Burscough Neuro Physiotherapy.
Initially, she built up and worked with a small team of neuro physiotherapists, developing an excellent reputation for high-quality rehabilitation. She went on to open our rehabilitation centre in Ormskirk in 2010, supported by her husband, Steve. Since 2010 the practice has grown from strength to strength due to the team’s dedication to providing high-quality, affordable neuro physiotherapy.
After 31 years of working clinically within the practice, Anita is now enjoying her retirement after gradually stepping away from clinical practice in January 2021. She has handed over her roles in the practice to Jack Moulton (Clinical Director), who has worked closely with Anita and Steve to develop the business since 2015.
Anita’s main focus now is on spending time with family, friends and her three dogs, and she will often be found in a pair of wellies in her garden!

Very friendly, professional and above all knowledgeable team. I would definitely recommend this team to stroke victims and their families.
Mrs W father with right sided stroke
Mike sustained a severe head injury which left him with mobility and co-ordination problems. As Mikes wife, it is difficult for me to express how valuable this neuro physiotherapy service is to us both. Mikes quality of life is greatly enhanced by the physios efforts with him each week (thanks for everything).
Mrs M, Mikes wife, about Mike aged 52
The physiotherapy sessions my mother has had from Burscough Physiotherapy following a stroke last year have improved her movements beyond anything we could have expected. The care attention and treatment she has received from the physiotherapists dealing with her have been second to none. I would have no hesitation in recommending Burscough Physiotherapy to anyone in need of their services, they are excellent in every way.
Mrs B
I have found all the physiotherapists who come to my home approachable and helpful. They always take the time to listen and advise. Having the same therapists also helps as they have built up a good relationship with my son

May I once again thank you and your physios for all the work put in on my mum and the wonderful improvement made, not just physically but to her mental wellbeing as well. The girls have worked wonders and she and I can not thank you enough.

Kind and caring physiotherapists who give their best to improve the lives of their patients…I am impressed by the encouragement given to P throughout each session and also for the explanation of what the exercises are hoping to achieve.
