Brain Tumour Rehabilitation
Brain Tumour
A brain tumour and its treatment can affect how your body moves, your balance, strength and energy levels. Tasks that once felt simple such as standing, walking or dressing, may suddenly require more effort or support.
Neuro physiotherapy focuses on helping you manage these changes, whether you are preparing for surgery or recovering after treatment.
For over 30 years, we’ve supported individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by brain tumours, helping them make meaningful progress, rebuild confidence and regain independence.
How Physiotherapy Can Help after a Brain Tumour
Brain tumours are varied and complex. The effects often depend on the size, location and type of brain tumour presented, and each person’s experience will be different. Many patients and families have concerns about the difficulties they’re experiencing, and these are all areas where the right rehabilitation and support can make a meaningful difference.
Things we can help with:
- Difficulty with everyday activities such as walking, dressing or moving around safely
- Reduced strength or difficulty controlling certain muscles
- Feeling unsteady when standing or walking
- Fatigue and reduced stamina throughout the day
- Loss of confidence or increased caution with everyday tasks
- Practical guidance for families and carers

Get Started with Burscough Neuro Physiotherapy
The first step in starting physiotherapy with us is to arrange an initial assessment. This gives us the opportunity to understand your current situation, your goals, and what support will feel most helpful for you.
Your initial assessment lasts approximately 90 minutes and looks at all aspects of how the brain tumour has affected you. We will:
- Assess your movement, balance and function
- Discuss what matters most to you
- Be honest about what improvement may realistically be achievable
- Create a clear plan to keep moving forward
The assessment also includes an element of treatment, so you leave with practical input from the very first session.
If you’re unsure whether neuro physiotherapy would be helpful, please feel free to call us for a friendly chat. We’re happy to talk through your situation and offer guidance on what moving forward may look like for you.
- No referral is needed. You are welcome to contact our team directly to arrange an initial assessment.
Can physiotherapy help after a brain tumour?
Yes. Neuro physiotherapy can help manage the physical, sensory, and functional effects of a brain tumour or its treatment, including improving movement, strength, balance, and coordination, and supporting independence in everyday activities.
How soon should I start physiotherapy after surgery or a brain tumour diagnosis?
Physiotherapy can be helpful as soon as your medical team confirms it is safe to begin. NHS services provide essential post-surgery rehabilitation, but the timing and duration can be limited. Starting neuro physiotherapy alongside or after NHS treatment can help you maintain mobility, rebuild strength, improve balance and coordination, and regain confidence in daily activities.
Do you offer home visits for brain tumour rehabilitation?
Yes. We provide home, care home and community visits across Liverpool, Merseyside and West Lancashire.
Home visits allow treatment to focus on the practical challenges that matter most in everyday life — such as transfers, wheelchair mobility, moving safely around your home, managing stairs, and building confidence with daily activities.
