Falls Prevention & Rehabilitation
Falls Prevention & Rehabilitation
A fall can happen to anyone, but the risk often increases with age, changes in balance, reduced strength, or certain health conditions. Even one fall can have a significant impact, leaving you feeling less steady, less confident, and more anxious about moving around safely.
At Burscough Neuro Physiotherapy, we look beyond the fall itself to understand what may be contributing to your instability. Through specialist physiotherapy, we help you improve balance, rebuild confidence, and reduce the risk of further falls.
For over 30 years, we have supported individuals and families with falls prevention and rehabilitation, helping people move more safely, stay independent, and feel more confident in everyday life.
How Neuro Physiotherapy Can Help with Falls Prevention & Rehabilitation
We know that no two people experience falls or balance difficulties in the same way. That is why our approach is tailored to your symptoms, goals and lifestyle. Many patients and families feel concerned when they notice changes in balance, walking, strength or confidence, and specialist rehabilitation can play an important role in helping manage these difficulties day to day.
Things we can help with:
- Muscle weakness, particularly in the legs
- Reduced balance or feeling unsteady on your feet
- Reduced confidence with walking or day-to-day movement
- Recurrent falls or near falls
- Difficulty getting out of a chair, turning, or moving safely around the home
- Becoming more cautious or fearful after a fall

Get Started with Burscough Neuro Physiotherapy
The first step in starting physiotherapy with us is to arrange an initial assessment. This gives us the opportunity to understand your current situation, your goals, and what support will feel most helpful for you.
Your initial assessment lasts approximately 90 minutes and looks at all aspects of how falling or the fear of falling currently impacts your life. We will:
- Assess your movement, balance and function
- Discuss what matters most to you
- Be honest about what improvement may realistically be achievable
- Create a clear plan to keep moving forward
The assessment also includes an element of treatment, so you leave with practical input from the very first session.
If you’re unsure whether neuro physiotherapy would be helpful, please feel free to call us for a friendly chat. We’re happy to talk through your situation and offer guidance on what moving forward may look like for you.
- No referral is needed. You are welcome to contact our team directly to arrange an initial assessment.
I have not fallen yet, but I feel unsteady. Can physiotherapy still help?
Yes. Many people seek support because they feel less steady, less confident when walking, or worried that they may fall. Early intervention can help reduce the risk of falling by improving balance, strength and movement strategies before a fall happens.
What happens during a falls prevention assessment?
Your physiotherapist will assess your balance, walking pattern, strength, mobility and how you move during everyday activities. We also look at factors such as fatigue, footwear, home environment and confidence levels to understand what may be increasing your risk of falling.
Can physiotherapy help if I have already had several falls?
Yes. Physiotherapy focuses on understanding why falls may be happening and putting practical strategies in place to reduce the risk of further falls. Many people regain confidence and independence with the right support.
How do I know if it is time to seek help with falls prevention?
If you or your family have noticed increasing unsteadiness, reduced confidence when walking, difficulty getting out of a chair, near falls, or a recent fall, it is a good time to seek advice. Early physiotherapy can help identify what may be contributing to the problem and reduce the risk of future falls.
Do you offer home visits for falls prevention?
Yes, we do offer home visits for people needing support with falls prevention and rehabilitation, including visits to private homes and care homes. Seeing you in your own environment can be particularly helpful when looking at transfers, walking safety and other day-to-day challenges that may be increasing the risk of falls.
